536. She Yu She Na
Verse:
All the mighty
lords vanquish the multitude of evil beings.
These vajra
protectors also guard the sangha members.
With roaring
and shaking the entire great-thousand world-system quakes.
Subduing
demons and the heterodox, disasters and calamities cease.
Commentary:
All the
mighty lords vanquish the multitude of evil beings.
Vanquishing
the multitude of evil beings means to subdue all the wicked demons, evil ghosts
and spirit kings.
These vajra
protectors also guard the sangha members.
In the East,
Medicine Master Buddha who quells disasters and lengthens life leads the Dharma
protectors of the vajra division, which belongs to the sangha jewel. These
vajra division Dharma protectors safeguard those cultivators who have renounced
the lay life to become monastics.
With roaring
and shaking the entire great-thousand world-system quakes.
Rumbling,
roaring, and crashing pertain to sound, while quaking, surging, and rising
refer to physical movement. Their awe-inspiring power causes the entire
great-thousand realm to quake.
Subduing
demons and the heterodox, disasters and calamities cease.
Using their great, awe-inspiring spiritual powers, the mighty vajra lords are able to tame into submission all the wicked demons and those of heterodox paths, thus preventing them from tyrannizing and oppressing those in this world. Consequently, all disasters and calamities naturally come to an end.
